# How We Verify Figures

Every leverage cap, points figure, volume number, and trading statistic on Lighterpedia is sourced from primary data and manually re-checked on a defined cadence. This page explains how.

## Primary Sources

For any claim involving a specific number — leverage limits, market counts, points tiers, volume, TVL, open interest — we cite from primary sources first and secondary aggregators second. Specifically:

- **Lighter official documentation** (docs.lighter.xyz) — the authoritative source for leverage caps, margin requirements, points-program rules, token mechanics, and protocol behavior.

- **The Lighter app** (app.lighter.xyz) — real-time volume, funding rates, open interest, and market data used by live-stat components throughout the site.

- **On-chain data via Dune Analytics and DefiLlama** — historical volume, TVL, and wallet activity cross-referenced against the app data.

- **Competitor platform documentation** (hyperliquid.gitbook.io, docs.asterdex.com, dydx.trade/docs, GRVT docs) for comparison figures. We never rely on secondhand summaries for comparison claims.

- **Independent research and funding disclosures** for figures like Lighter's raise and valuation, cited to the reporting source rather than restated as fact.

## Review Cadence

Every guide carries a Last Updated date in the byline. Additionally, pages covering time-sensitive figures (leverage caps, points rewards, market coverage, volume comparisons) carry a Last Verified date indicating the most recent manual data check — this is usually more recent than the content-edit date.

High-priority guides (getting started, deposit, withdraw, points, security) are re-checked at least monthly. Comparison and ecosystem articles are re-checked quarterly or when a material change is detected. Live data widgets (price tickers, funding rates, volume stats) pull fresh data on every page load.

## Limitations

Rates and figures in crypto markets change. The Last Verified date represents the last time a human manually confirmed the figure against a primary source. Between verification dates, figures may drift — particularly points values, funding rates, and volume comparisons. Airdrop timing and per-point value are estimates: there is no confirmed TGE, so we never present them as guaranteed. When accuracy matters for a decision you're about to make, always cross-check against the primary source linked from the article.

## Reporting Outdated Figures

If you spot a figure on this site that looks out of date or wrong, please report it. The fastest path is a direct message to [@Concept211 on X](https://x.com/Concept211) or an email via the [About page](https://lighterpedia.com/about). Include the URL, the figure, and the source you're comparing against — we re-verify and update within 48 hours on average.

## Editorial Independence and Disclosure

Lighterpedia earns from Lighter's points-based referral program (see the [About page](https://lighterpedia.com/about) for full disclosure). This does not influence which figures we publish, how we rank exchanges, or which platforms we recommend. Comparisons are sourced from each platform's own published documentation. When a competitor is stronger on a given dimension, we say so — we'd rather be accurate than favorable.
