The Lighter referral code used on this site is LIGHTERPEDIA. Because Lighter's standard accounts are already zero-fee, a referral code cannot lower what a standard account pays — there is nothing there to lower. What Lighter's documentation describes instead is a one-week Premium trial for the referred user, with fees rebated on the first $10M of volume.

Important: Lighter states that referral attribution is permanent — once a code is used at sign-up it cannot be changed, and if you create an account without a referral link there is no way to add one afterwards.

For most users the honest answer is that it changes very little. Lighter's standard accounts pay 0% maker and 0% taker, and the documented referral benefit is a rebate on Premium fees during a one-week trial — fees a standard account was never going to pay. It becomes worth something if you intend to trade on Premium in your first week, and Lighter caps the rebate at the first $10M of volume.

Using a code costs nothing and cannot increase what you pay. It also cannot be added later, so if you are going to use one, it has to be at sign-up. Note that this site earns a share of the fees referred users pay, which is a reason to check Lighter's own terms rather than take this page's word for it.

What Does the Referrer Earn?

Lighter documents a kickback on the gross fees paid by referred users, at a rate that depends on the referrer's tier:

How Are Rebates Paid?

Lighter says rebates for both sides are paid weekly as L2 transfers, with each Monday's payout covering fees generated from Monday 00:00 UTC through Sunday 23:59 UTC of the preceding week, subject to a $1 minimum. It also states that all kickbacks and rebates are discretionary, that wash trading and self-referrals result in disqualification, and that it may modify, suspend, or terminate the program at any time.
